What is DIY Energy?

So what is DIY energy? Simply stated, it is building your own energy generators and harnessing the power of nature to provide energy for your entire house or just your cell phone. The basics of do it yourself energy include making your own solar panels and wind generators also called wind turbines.

So what do I do? How do I get started? Building your own solar panels and wind generators can be done as a weekend project using tools and things lying around the house that you probably already have. If you are like me, I simply cannot pay someone to do something for me that I could easily do myself. You can save thousands over retail products with your own DIY energy solutions.

What are some of the basic things that I will need to get started before I can start making my own do it yourself energy? You basically need photovoltaic cells. What are those? Take a look at your calculator. That's right, that small solar cell just under the display. But we are not talking about making your own DIY energy from a bunch of calculators.

Look around on Ebay. That's right, Ebay. You can find auctions selling bundles of medium sized photovoltaic cells for around a dollar a piece! That is basic proof of how building your own solar panels using do it yourself energy techniques can be affordable and effective.

What about DIY energy from wind generators? Building your own wind turbine and putting it in your back yard is truly a very satisfying project. How in the world do I make one of those? Do it yourself Energy wind turbines are basically small electric motors with a propeller on the front. It is just an electric motor running backwards! Instead of using energy it makes DIY energy!

So can I really run my whole house with do it yourself energy? Yes, it can be done. But start small with your DIY energy projects and get started this weekend making your own DIY energy.
